How working with me works
No small print in size-6 font. These are the standing terms for website builds, care plans and hourly work. Your written quote always states what applies to your job, and if the two ever differ, the quote wins.
Website builds
- Fixed written quote first. Nothing starts, and nothing is owed, until you've accepted a written quote saying exactly what's included and what it costs.
- 40% deposit to book the work, with the balance due when the site goes live. The deposit covers the design and build time already spent if you cancel partway, so it's not refundable once work has started.
- The quote is the scope. Small tweaks along the way are part of the job. If you ask for something genuinely new — extra pages, a feature we hadn't discussed — I'll quote it separately before doing it, never silently add it to the bill.
- The site is yours. Once the balance is paid, you own the site, the content and the domain. If you ever want to move it elsewhere or have someone else look after it, I'll hand everything over properly.
- You provide the words and pictures unless the quote says otherwise, and you confirm you have the right to use what you give me.
Care plans
- Rolling monthly, cancel any time. No minimum term and no exit fee. Cancel whenever you like and the plan simply runs to the end of the month you've paid for.
- "Included changes" means routine content changes: updating prices, opening hours, photos, wording, adding a simple page — jobs within your plan's monthly time allowance. A redesign or a new feature isn't a small change; I'll quote those separately, and say so up front.
- Included time doesn't roll over month to month. It keeps plans cheap; if you regularly need more time than your plan includes, moving up a plan is usually cheaper than paying hourly.
- What every plan covers: software and security updates, backups (which I test, not just take), and uptime monitoring, with response times as listed on the pricing page.
- Billing is monthly by card through Stripe, and you can update your card or cancel through Stripe's own portal without having to ask me (though you can always just email).
Hourly fixes & consultancy
- £40/hour, and you'll know the likely time before I start. If a job turns out bigger than estimated, I stop and check with you before carrying on.
- You pay for time worked, invoiced after the job (or monthly for ongoing bits and pieces), payable within 14 days.
The general bits
- I'll always tell you the truth about what you need, including when the honest answer is "nothing".
- I take reasonable care with everything I touch, and I keep backups before making significant changes. I can't accept liability for losses caused by things outside my control — a hosting provider outage, a third-party service closing down — but if something's gone wrong, I'll help put it right either way.
- LM Digital is the trading name of Luke Millward, a sole trader based in Stockport, UK. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
